THE STORY:  One of the cool things about going on location for senior shoots, is that you never know where you will end up. In this case it was down at Walnut Beach in Milford. A bit of a hike from Litchfield, but on a nice summer afternoon, it was worth it. This is a great example of using perspective when you are shooting. As I was laying on the pier boards, all I could see was my beautiful guitarist, and not all the people standing on the pier behind her. The white sky how to isolate her, so there were no distractions in the image to take away from her. The golden light of afternoon had to be carefully balanced on the other side with off camera flash to make it even enough and to fill in the shadows so we wouldn't lose detail in her body and guitar.  Be forewarned, when there is an instrument in the picture, I always make my subjects play for me. The only thing I can play is Oh Susanna on the piano with one hand. I am insanely jealous of anyone who can play any instrument of any kind, so this is always my favorite part of the shoot!
